Anime fans, rejoice! 2017 has just delivered yet another barrage of good news for fans. This time around, Bungo Stray Dogs is the franchise getting a well-deserved pat on the back from its overseers. Today, the anime's cast reunited at a live-event at Yokohama Pacifico in Japan. And, to the delight of thousands, the actors confirmed a brand-new movie and stage play were in development for the franchise.

If you are not familiar with Bungo Stray Dogs, then you will certainly want to catch up. The series was created in 2012 when Young Ace began to serialize the manga. In April 2016, Bones adapted the popular seinen series into an anime which wrapped up last December.

As for its story, Bungo Stray Dogs is a mash-up of thrilling action and literary goodness. The franchise follows a group of young adults who all have supernatural gifts. The anime's core character use their powers for everyday deeds and eventually join an organization known as the 'Armed Detective Agency.' The story's protagonist is named Atsushi Nakajima who is able to transformed into an uncontrollable white tiger at will.

Aside from Atsushi, there are a handful of other characters. Many audiences will notice some of the characters have familiar names. Many of the anime's stars are named after famous literary figures like Agatha Christie, Osamu Dazai, Edgar Allan Poe, Doppo Kunikida, and more.

At the reveal, a promotional image for the film was shared with fans. The sepia-toned poster shows two of the franchise's leads standing amongst a pile of rubble. The dramatic image fits well with the series' overall theme, and fans have taken to the Internet to share their excitement over Bungo Stray Dogs' continuation.

The franchise is not the only anime series getting a new film or stage play this year. In 2017, Attack on Titan and Inuyasha will get live-action plays while series like Fate/Stay Night will debut new films.
