Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be hitting theaters in North America with a brand new movie in just a few more days, and the star behind Zenitsu Agatsuma shared their reaction to the young hero’s big change seen in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. After making its debut in Japan earlier this Summer, Demon Slayer has kicked off a brand new trilogy of films adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga. This trilogy will be stacked with some of the most intense fights in the franchise yet, and that includes Zenitsu’s role in it all too.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be ushering Zenitsu into an intense new fight against someone from his past, and with it fans will see him taking on an entirely different attitude than fans have seen from him in the series before. It’s such a big change for the character that ComicBook had to ask voice star Aleks Le all about the change and what this contrast means for Zenitsu in the new movie. Opening up about the change, Le explained he was excited for fans to see how Zenitsu fights fully awake.
Demon Slayer’s Aleks Le Reacts to Zenitsu’s Big Change for Infinity Castle Movie

“I think that’s one of the best parts about my job,” Zenitsu voice star Aleks Le began. “Getting to play so many characters who have this varying range about them, where they can be one thing, but also something completely on the other side. We’ve seen that with Zenitsu, where he’s this very quirky and energetic ball of energy, who’s desperate and scared and very loud, and then we’ve also seen him be very focused and completely asleep.” As Le explained, these two sides of the character are now merging, “There’s this whole other side of him, but now there’s kind of been a merger of those two sides, where he is intense, but he’s no longer asleep, he’s awake now. And that brings a whole new dynamic to his character that I’m very excited for fans to see.”
When asked about bringing this new aspect of Zenitsu to life, Le stated, “For me, it was kind of seeing where have we taken this character before, and where can we take him now? I’m very lucky that Zenitsu, as a character, has been so wide with his range of expression.” Elaborating further the star explained, “He’s been all over the place, so there’s a lot of room for me to explore in terms of that because I can draw from part of his intensity from maybe some funnier moments, but also merge and combine that with something that’s a little bit more personable and deep within his psyche.”
Demon Slayer’s Zenitsu Prepares Fans for What’s Next

And in preparing to bring this all to life, the star explained, “So that’s how I’ve been preparing. I’ve been thinking a lot about what is he doing, and how has he reacted to these situations before, and where is that intensity coming from when he’s reacting to certain situations?” But what helps Le figure things out for Zenitsu is his close relationship with Zenitsu’s Japanese voice star too, “It also helps that I am good friends with his Japanese voice actor, Hiro Shimono.”
“We’ve talked a lot about, not only about our work, I’m very familiar with his work and where he’s been, but we’ve also shared stories of our personal lives,” Le stated. “So I can imagine when he’s taking on specific parts of the roles, where he is drawing from, and where I can draw from as well. It’s been a really liberating and also rewarding process for me as an actor to bring all of this depth to this character. Especially when not a lot of people have seen this side of him before.”
