Dragon Ball fans may have had to wait awhile to see Goku and Jiren fight, but their patience was well worth it. Last night, Dragon Ball Super returned with a one-hour special detailing the pair's epic battle, and Goku went so far as to debut a new form in the fight. Fans of the Saiyan are stoked about the power-up, but there are some out there wondering if the form may have unexpected consequences.

After all, Goku's new power is one which even the Gods of Destruction struggle to harness. How is Vegeta meant to rival the hero when Beerus finds himself a better match?

Dragon Ball Super's special followed Goku as the hero uncovered a power hidden deep within him. After failing to take down Jiren with his Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken forms, Goku used a last-resort option and tried to destroy his opponent with a Spirit Bomb. The plan did not work as Jiren was able to push back the Spirit Bomb, and Goku did his best to neutralize the attack. Goku's stubborn will and the bomb's collective force clashed with an intense boom, and the aftermath of the attack had fans thinking Goku might have died.

Of course, Goku was anything but deceased; He had just reached a higher plane of fighting. The hero came back with a new form in town, and Beerus was left in shock by Goku's appearance. Whis hinted that something wonderful had happened to the hero, but Beerus seemed less-than-pleased about Goku's power. After all, the Saiyan managed to tap into Ultra Instinct, a form which is traditionally only used by the gods. None of the other Gods of Destruction can believe what they are seeing, and poor Vegeta was left wondering what Goku had done to accrue such power.

Down in the arena, fans watched as Vegeta watched Goku display his new power with a bit of reluctance. The Saiyan admits he has never seen Goku fight like this before, and he can't stop asking how Goku got the power. When Jiren finally blasts Goku away, Vegeta goes to find his rival not to check on him but to ask what just happened. It may be true that Vegeta needs Goku to win the Tournament of Power, but that doesn't mean the prince cannot grow envious of Goku's godly new skill.

Judging by Vegeta's dumbfounded expression, it does not look like the hero is even close to unlocking Goku's power for himself. Beerus may be able to tap into Ultra Instinct, but Whis has said the God of Destruction has yet to master it. If Goku is able to train up his stamina in the form, then Beerus may turn to Goku and make the mortal a sort of rival since Goku will align with the prophecy the Oracle Fish made Beerus. If the God of Destruction pits himself against Goku as a rival, Vegeta will surely feel the sting, but it won't last for long.

After all, it will only be a matter of time until Vegeta is able to use Ultra Instinct as well. It just looks like Goku beat the Saiyan to the punch - again.
