It's safe to say Gohan is in for a bit of a rude awakening. Earlier this year, Dragon Ball Super kicked off its new story arc when the 'Universal Survival' saga made its debut. The high-stakes arc has since put Universe 7 in unparalleled danger as the Omni-Kings have promised to destroy whichever universe they wish after hosting a multiverse martial arts tournament. Goku and his comrades only have one chance to win the Tournament of Power, and Gohan has plenty to fight for. As a married father, the half-Saiyan isn't too keen on seeing his universe destroyed.
So, really, it's not too surprising to think that Gohan might level-up his power under the stress. Piccolo would be more than happy to whip his pupil into such a shape.
In a brand-new synopsis for Dragon Ball Super's 88th episode, fans have gotten a clearer look at how Piccolo might push Gohan towards a new transformation. You can check out the description below:
"It's essential for Gohan to make a comeback in order for Universe 7 to claim victory at the Tournament of Power! His martial arts master Piccolo aims to sharpen Gohan's faded skills through one-on-one training, and tries to bring even more power out of him than he had in the past. And the result is…?!"
When Gohan was at his peak fighting shape back in Dragon Ball Z, the character was powerful enough to take down Goku if left unchecked. The half-Saiyan was able to get his full power unlock when the Elder Kai helped Gohan unleash his full potential. The result left the fighter in his Mystical State, and Gohan's power levels were off the charts when he challenged Cell to battle. If Gohan had been able to hold onto the form for a longer period of time, Cell would have been made a goner - and it looks like that state will be necessary for the Tournament of Power.
Or who knows? Gohan might find a way to unlock even more power. If Piccolo is the man behind his training, then anything is possible.
