Dragon Ball Super debuted its English dub last fall, and the show is finally ready to enter a brand-new saga. The series just finished up its episodic retelling of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F,” giving the “Universe 6” saga a chance to get underway.

Starting Saturday August 5th, Toonami will be airing episode from Dragon Ball Super‘s Universe 6 saga. The storyline spans from episodes 28 to 46, and it debuted last year over in Japan. Cartoon Network will air the saga’s premiere episode on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. EST. The new time slots will hopefully allow Adult Swim and Toonami viewers to watch Dragon Ball Super‘s episodes without sacrificing their weekend routines.
If you want a heads up about Dragon Ball Super‘s upcoming saga, then you have a bit to catch up on. The saga is the anime‘s third and sees yet another martial arts tournament take place. Dragon Ball Super catches up with Goku and Vegeta as the pair continue their training under Whis. However, things get interesting when a new god of destruction appears.
The Universe 6 saga introduces fans to a character called Champa, and the deity is Beerus’ mirror of sorts. The god of destruction comes to Beerus with his own Angel attendant Vados at hand. When Champa learns his brother’s universe has an Earth in it with humans, the god challenges Beerus to a tournament for the planet and its Super Dragon Balls. Excited, Goku agrees to Champa’s turn without hesitation, and a five-on-five match is decided upon.
As the saga goes on, audiences are introduced to plenty of new fighters from Universe 6. Characters like Hit make their debut, and fans are even given a glimpse at the Saiyan race from Universe 6 thanks to a boy named Cabba. With Toonami’s schedule, the new saga should last fans until the winter holidays, so audiences better strap in for the saga that made Dragon Ball Super so popular.

Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami airs the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
