Japan may be known for some whacky things, but the innovative country is on the forefront of technology. Stepping into Tokyo is like walking into the future, and anime fans will want to head to Shinjuku ASAP. After all, the city’s biggest amusement park is about to offer one insane Dragon Ball Z VR experience.

Next month, Shinjuku will open an amusement center which Namco Bandai has been working on. The VR ZONE aims to be one of the world’s first VR-centric entertainment parks, and it plans to do so using Dragon Ball Z.
Not long ago, VR Zone released a commercial to highlight its biggest VR attractions, and Dragon Ball Z made the cut. The lengthy video shows a group of friends playing Mario Kart VR before two of them friends face-off against one another. Wearing VR headsets, the friends can be seen standing opposite one another as they get ready to blast off some serious Kamehameha blasts. The trailer doesn’t unveil the VR game’s footage just yet, but the park’s set-up looks far more sophisticated than any other Dragon Ball Z VR initiatives before it.
Dragon Ball Z is not the only anime getting a VR treatment from the Shinjuku park. Neon Genesis Evangelion is also getting a stylish attraction called Evangelion VR: The Soul Seat. According to reports, the attraction puts puts fans in one of the show’s mecha suits as a pilot. The seat shakes and moves according to the user’s headset. The attraction follows its user as they are dragged into a battle against Angels after a Eva pilots go AWOL during a mission.
If you want to experience Dragon Ball Z VR for yourself, then you can save up to visit VR ZONE. However, if you are short on that kind of cash, then the toy company Mega House has a solution. The creators recently made a Capsule Corporation VR headset which uses one’s cell phone to enter the anime series. Mega House intends to release the bundle this month in Japan for $110 dollars before it hopefully makes it stateside.

Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
