HBO Max’s Highly Anticipated Animated Series Return Has a Release Date

HBO Max has been diving further into the world of animation, despite some fairly large hiccups along the way. While classic Cartoon Network series such as Courage The Cowardly Dog, Powerpuff Girls, and Scooby-Doo have left the streaming service, other original animated series are set to premiere. One of the biggest animated universes of Warner Bros fame has been that focusing on the Land of Oooo, and the adventures of Jake the Dog and Finn The Human. Apparently, the platform slipped the good news as to when we can expect the return of the beloved animated locale.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake will return next month on October 23rd, according to HBO Max itself. This reveal comes right before the spin-off/sequel series plans on having a big panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con, wherein the showrunner and various actors involved with the series are planning to reveal more information. Taking place on Sunday, October 12th, here’s how the upcoming comic convention describes the second season preview:

“Take your nearest subway, taxi, or multiversal portal to the Javits Center cause Adventure Time is returning to New York Comic Con! Join executive producer and showrunner Adam Muto along with voice cast members Madeleine Martin, Roz Ryan, and Ashly Burch for an exclusive sneak peek at the multiversal adventures that await in season 2 of the HBO Max Original series from Cartoon Network Studios, “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake.”

Fionna And Cake’s Second Season Adventure

Following the multiverse adventures of Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake’s first season, the upcoming season will focus on a more “grounded” approach in that Fionna’s original universe will be explored further. The second season will also bring back former Ice King, Simon Petrikov, to continue to play a role in the title character’s lives. Joined by the Huntress Wizard this time around, here’s how HBO Max describes the spin-off series’ return, “Fionna and Cake keeping in touch with Simon Petrikov must team up with Huntress Wizard for a quest to save Ooo’s favorite hero.” With this description, there are still plenty of questions for the spin-off’s return

Luckily, Fionna and Cake’s journey isn’t the only one that Adventure Time has in the works. The first movie of the franchise was confirmed to be in the works last year, with various spin-offs confirmed as well to further flesh out Oooo. The spin-off stories will cover some wild territory, with the first being aimed at a younger audience in Heyo BMO, focusing on the robotic friend of Jake and Finn. There is also a spin-off that will focus on both Finn and Jake in Adventure Time: Side Quests, taking place in the earlier days of the dynamic duo. None of these projects has a release date, but it proves that Warner Bros Discovery has big plans for the Cartoon Network franchise.
