Being in a band is hard, but musicians do get the added bonus of built-in friends to lean on if things all work out. However, for one group in Japan, it looks like its members are all much closer than they may outwardly appear. Male idol groups are not a new thing to Japan or other eastern countries such as South Korea, but MeseMoa. recently adopted a rather shocking concept for their latest music video.

You know, the kissing concept?

Earlier this month, a music video for the band's single "Shadow Kiss" dropped, and fans were left gawking over the sensual video. Even though MeseMoa. is considered a rookie group, the 9-member band went out on a limb with its new video. The lengthy clip shows the all-male group kissing each other a lot - no, really. In total, the boys lock lips nearly 40 times.

If you are not familiar with MeseMoa., then you can learn more about the touchy-feely group online. The band debuted back in 2012 under the name Morning Musumen, and they mainly performed covers of songs done by a popular female idol group called Morning Masume. However, with their new album titled Secret, the boys have reemerged under a new name, and they are not afraid to pander to a very specific audience with this video.

For anime fans, much of the video may look familiar given their familiarity with BL series. BL, which stands for Boy Love, is a very popular sub-genre of anime which focuses on the homosexual relationships between male characters. The category can range from simple platonic love to explicit sexual relationships, and girls around the world have come to follow the sub-genre loyally.

In the music video, fans can see some familiar scenes which look as if they were plucked from a popular BL title. One make-out shot features a band member pressing his bandmate against a wall, leaning his weight against his crooked arm as he goes in for a kiss. The image is known as a kabe-don or 'wall pound' scene, and they are used in both shojo and BL titles.

The music video itself also lends itself to anime-esque themes. The footage finds the boys dancing in a candlelit church, and they are even wearing religious attire themselves. The members appear to be wearing capes similar to the ones archbishops wear in the Catholic faith, and some fans have vocalized how controversial it is for the band to wear such clothes as they go around kissing one another.

You can check out the full video for yourself above. It's up to you to decide whether the single is catchy enough to convert new fans to the MeseMoa. fandom. But, if this band continues to see its popularity rise, they may just get a short BL OVA created in their honor.
