My Hero Academia Prequel Sets Season 2 Release Window With New Look

My Hero Academia‘s big prequel anime is coming back for Season 2 next year, and now it has nailed down its release window with a new look at My Hero Academia: Vigilantes‘ big comeback. My Hero Academia might be returning later this October with the eighth and final season of the TV anime, but it’s not the only new release that fans can look forward to in the coming months. Because even after the anime comes to an end, it has a new spinoff that’s going to be returning with a full second season of episodes keeping the story moving.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 will be premiering some time in January 2026 as part of the Winter 2026 anime schedule. A concrete release date has yet to be announced as of this new update, but it will be streaming its new episodes with Crunchyroll alongside their initial premiere. It’s also where you can currently catch up with everything that’s happened in the first season thus far with both Japanese and English language dubbed audio versions available. But there’s all sorts of big things to look forward to in the coming episodes as well.

Originally written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes‘ first season was directed by Kenichi Suzuki for Bones Film. The scripts were provided by Yosuke Kuroda, character designs were provided by Takahiko Yoshida, Yukihiro Watanabe served as art director, Haruko Nobori handled color design, and the music was composed by Yuki Hayashi. It’s yet to be revealed as to whether or not the staff will be returning for the new season, but the voice cast is presumed to be coming back next year. There likely won’t be any major shake ups if the second season is releasing so soon.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is special because it takes place years before the events of the main series, and has been showing off how the hero world looked before heroes ended up being as widespread in Izuku Midoriya’s time. The first season introduced fans to a trio of illegal heroes who had been taking things into their own hands, and has already been revealing how some of the heroes and villains in the main series ended up becoming who they were in the main series.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 is going to be taking things even further. Not only is the anime likely going to be taking on its major Shota Aizawa prequel arc (revealing a backstory that’s very crucial to filling out My Hero Academia‘s whole story), but there are even more main series’ heroes will be showing up soon as well. It’s going to be a big season especially after My Hero Academia‘s main series ends.
