Netflix has recently been adding more anime exclusives and originals to the site, in order to compete with other streaming services. The next project coming exclusively to the site is a mech show titled ID-0. Today, the site behind the project began streaming a new promo video featuring a new song from Sayaka Sasaki.
Sasaki's song "Stargarden" can be heard behind the entire trailer, and works perfectly with the epic mech action sequences. Sasaki will also be performing the opening theme of the show, titled "ID-0", and the entire soundtrack will be to order on April 26.
The series has already premiered in Japan on April 9, and will be streaming exclusively on Netflix this Spring. Netflix currently has a placeholder page in place for the show, and describes it as the following:
"In the midst of a field exercise operating I-Machines, Alliance Academy student Maya Mikuri is thrown into an entirely different kind of adventure. Robots designed for extreme environments are just the beginning. Now she's facing instellar pirates and more."
For those who do not have Netflix, or are a fan of owning a physical copy, the show's complete Blu-ray Disc and DVD box set will ship on August 29. There has not been an official list of episodes for the show, but the box did confirm there will be 290 of footage included.
The series is directed by Goro Tanicguchi at Sanzigen. Yousuke Kuroda supervised and wrote the series scripts, while Kanetake Ebikawa is credited with "mechanic character design". Hiromi Kato adapted Range Murata's original character designs for animation. Fumihiro Katagai, Takeshi Takakura, and Takayuki Yanase designed the mecha, and Seiichi Shirato is credited as a researcher. It stars the following:
- Kazuyuki Okitsu as Ido
- Minami Tsuda as Maya Mikuri
- Hisako Kanemoto as Clair Hojo
- Reina Ueda as Mysterious Girl
- Masaya Matsukaze as Rick Ayer
- Sayaka Ohara as Karla Milla-Foden
- Rikiya Koyama as Grayman
- Ari Ozawa as Fa-Loser
- Junko Minagawa as Amanza Volchkova
There is no official date for ID-0 to be coming to Netflix, but will be coming sometime in the near future.
