Black Butler might have been on break as of late, but the anime franchise is far from finished. The popular fantasy franchise is making a comeback this year with a brand-new movie, Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic. The feature film will see characters like Ciel and Sebastian reunite as they embark on a dangerous mission which explores secrets of the occult. And, now, the first TV spot for the upcoming movie has been released.

The short clip is no more than 30 seconds, but the promo is an action-packed glimpse into the stunning story. The video shows Ciel and Sebastian as they take a trip on what appears to be a massive cruise liner. However, their so-called vacation does not look like it will be all that peaceful. The promo goes on to show the two protagonists as they battle a horde of undead guests who've been resurrected by a shadowy organization, and Sebastian does not seem keen on giving the group any mercy.

Of course, manga fans will be familiar with the Black Butler film and its dark story. The movie will adapt a popular arc from the original Black Butler manga known as "Gōka Kyakusen." The story first appeared in the publication in the 11th volume of Yana Toboso's work, and it tells the story of the luxury liner Campania's darkest secrets.

A-1 Pictures is heading up the film with director Noriyuki Abe. Hiroyuki Yoshino was tapped for scriptwriting while Minako Shiba is in charge of character designs. A slew of actors have also decided to reprise their roles from previous Black Butler projects. Daisuke Ono will voice Sebastian while Maaya Sakamoto will oversee Ciel.

If you are not familiar with Black Butler, then you should know the popular series ws created back in September 2006 by Toboso. The manga was then adapted into an anime in 2008 and has continued to produce spin-out series over the year. The last Black Butler project debuted in 2014 when a two-part OVA hit Japanese theaters.

As for its story, Black Butler is set in Victorian London and focuses on a young boy named Ciel Phantomhive. When the heir turns ten, his parents are brutally murdered and he is kidnapped by a cult. Desperate to live, Ciel escapes the brutes and returns home with a mysterious man named Sebastian at his side. The strange butler turns out to be a demon who Ciel made a contract with during his captivity. In return for Ciel's soul, Sebastian has sworn to help the boy get revenge against those who destroyed his life, and Ciel learns more about his parents' murder as he solves crimes around London.

Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic is set to debut on January 21, 2017.
