Toei Animation released a promo for its upcoming anime specials not too long ago. The footage shows pieces of One Piece and Dragon Ball Super as the two series are prepping hour-long episodes. The promo’s first clip belongs to One Piece, and it animates a long-awaited part of the ‘Whole Cake Island’ arc.

As you can see above, the One Piece special will follow Luffy and Sanji as the pair reunite. However, the meeting will not go as smoothly as Luffy hoped. After being taken by his family for an arranged marriage, Sanji comes to embrace his royal bloodline and tells Luffy he’s no longer interested in working for lowly pirates. Of course, the snub gets to Luffy, and the two get ready to fight.

The footage shows the aftermath of the confrontation as Sanji goes all out. In the manga, Luffy refuses to raise a fist against his friend, and Sanji has no qualms beating his captain into the ground. Nami yells at Sanji from her spot to leave Luffy alone, but the chef does no such thing. After Sanji roughs up Luffy, he finally knocks the pirate out and faces Nami’s wrath.

The teary girl gives a vicious slap to Sanji and sends him off so she can tend to her friend. Before Sanji can leave, Luffy wakes up and tells the former he knows Sanji is lying. Luffy will not leave the area and resume his quest to become the Pirate King without his chef, and Sanji breaks down into tears as the Vinsmoke and Charlotte Families plot in the background.

Of course, this is not the first time Luffy has had to fight a friend of his. The pirate went up against Usopp years ago when the sniper challenged Luffy for the Going Merry.
