One-Punch Man Sets a New Record Ahead of Season 3

One-Punch Man by ONE and Yusuke Murata is one of the most celebrated series in the anime and manga industry, thanks to its ridiculous premise of the main hero defeating opponents with a single punch. Despite its simple concept, the manga has been serialized for over a decade, outlasting series such as Shonen Jump’s My Hero Academia, while its webcomic has been around even longer. The series received an anime adaptation in 2016 that took the fandom by storm; however, its second season was a letdown due to a major drop in animation quality. Ever since the announcement of season 3 in August 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting its release despite the controversy.

With the new season only days away from its premiere, the manga is also setting new records. In a recent post shared by Shueisha’s Tonari Young Jump X account, announcing the release of the mangaโ€™s 35th volume on October 3, 2025, it was revealed that the series has surpassed 35 million copies in circulation. This is a remarkable feat, especially considering that other popular titles like Black Clover, despite having more volumes, have yet to reach this milestone. It proves that despite the animeโ€™s controversies, One-Punch Man remains one of the most popular manga series.

Despite the Controversy, One-Punch Man Continues To Thrive

The manga sales recorded in the latest announcements include global numbers; however, the last three volumes are still unavailable worldwide and have only been released in Japan. This means that with the eventual worldwide release of these volumes, especially considering how exciting the events of the current arc are, the sales are bound to rise even higher. Furthermore, with the 35th volume yet to be released and a new anime season on the way, sales are expected to receive an additional boost, as anime adaptations have consistently driven manga sales upward.

Even though the recent outburst from the One-Punch Man Season 3 director suggested the upcoming season might not match the first, his posts also show that the work being put into it comes from the heart and should surpass the second season. Since the new season is set to adapt one of the mangaโ€™s most exciting arcs, even if the animation faces criticism, a potential cliffhanger ending would push fans to turn to the manga, further boosting its sales. Ultimately, One-Punch Man remains a beloved series despite its slow output over the last decade, and it is only set to break more records, as there is no indication that the series is ending anytime soon.
