Seeing a black cat may be bad luck for some, but not for Sailor Moon fans! Those fans should get ready because Viz Media has just started streaming an a new English-dubbed trailer for Sailor Moon R: THE MOVIE today that is set to premiere on January 13 in Los Angeles.

The movie, originally titled The Sailor MOON R MOVIE: Promise of the Rose, opened in Japan in 1993. It was then released on VHS and DVD between 1999-2004. And, just this year,the movie was redubbed for english audiences. To celebrate the anime and its long-running history, Viz Media announced it would be bring Sailor Moon to U.S. theaters in a limited release.

The film features an original story set apart from the show and is described as follows:

Long before Mamoru found his destiny with Usagi, he gave a single rose in thanks to a lonely boy who helped him recover from the crash that claimed his parents. This long-forgotten friend, Fiore, has been searching the galaxy for a flower worthy of that sweet gesture long ago. The mysterious flower he finds is beautiful, but has a dark side- it has the power to take over planets. To make matters worse, the strange plant is tied to an ominous new asteroid near Earth! Faced with an enemy blooming out of control, It’s up to Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians to band together, stop the impending destruction and save Mamoru!

Viz Media is hosting a premiere screening of the film at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles on January 13. The event features an exclusive question and answer session with the English cast and staff. Select theaters will start screening the film starting January 19, and expanding to over 300 theaters in the United States beginning on January 20.

To go with the English-dub of the movie, theaters will also be screening the short Make Up! Sailor Guardian alongside the film. So, go get your tickets before they sell out or you’ll be punished in the name of the moon!
