Called Aggretsuko, the adorable red panda looks unassuming at worst. He doe-eyes are only complimented by her perky ears and bushy tail. Even her docile voice is enough to make the nearest person coo, but don’t make any assumptions about the characters. Hiding deep within her soul, Aggrestuko has a few secrets, and they will take you by surprise.
Over on Twitter, Sanrio introduced the new fan-favorite character. “Introducing, Aggretsuko! She’s a Red Panda who works as an office associate of a trading company in Tokyo,” the company wrote. A short video gave fans an introduction to the red panda who is a single, 25-year-old female working at a busy company. All seems well as Aggretsuko heads to work, but things quickly dissolve when she tries to head home.
When her boss gives her stacks of overtime work to do, she transformed from a cute panda to a raging monster who strictly sings metal during karaoke sessions. If you have ever worked in an office, then you will understand Aggretsuko’s plights and her insatiable anger.
Just, maybe you should avoid her drinking habits for the time being.
Having predicted Aggretsuko’s popularity, the U.S. Sanrio store is already offering toys and merchandise based on the character. The new figure has been around in Japan for about a year at this point, and now it is time for her to make a global debut and killer kawaii style.
Here’s what the Sanrio site has to say about Aggretsuko:
“She is a cute Red Panda, working as an office associate in the accounting department of a highly respected trading company. She works in one of the biggest metropolitan areas of Tokyo. It’s always been a dream of hers to work in this field, especially in this part of the city. But in reality, her bosses are unsympathetic and give her harsh deadlines.”
“She ultimately has become a pushover within the company. When she gets pushed to the limit, she goes out after work and takes out her frustration and stress with heavy metal Karaoke sessions!”
