Running for only two days, the event includes new announcements for anime, manga, and games, interactive exhibits, and unique merchandise that is often available only at the convention. Since a lot of the famous series are included in the stages, anticipation around this event is always high. The official website of Jump Festa shared the Stage List for Jump Festa 2026, which will be held on December 21st and 22nd, 2025. However, neither of the Red, Blue, or Green Stages includes Takeru Hokazono’s debut manga Kagurabachi, which is currently the hottest new-generation Weekly Shonen Jump series. Even the key visual doesn’t include Chihiro Rokuhira, who often takes the spotlight in any new Shonen Jump promos. The event even includes several series such as Gokurakugai, Marriagetoxin, and Phantom Busters, which have yet to get an anime adaptation. This means that Shueisha has other plans regarding Kagurabachi, but what could it be?
Jump Festa 2026 Neglecting Kagurabachi May Mean Something Else

Although Jump Festa 2026 won’t reveal anything about the series, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing. Considering Kagurabachi’s popularity, it’s unprecedented that Shueisha will completely ignore the series. The series debuted two years ago and went viral with its first chapter. It has been on a generational run since its debut, with over 2.2 million copies sold until April 2025. Usually, most of the WSJ series take around two years to announce an anime adaptation, so it’s the perfect time for Kagurabachi to drop this news.
The series has already released 92 chapters so far, which are available to read on the official app of Manga Plus and Shonen Jump. Eight volumes have been released in Japan, and the ninth one will be available starting October 3rd, 2025. Out of these, only five volumes have been published in English, which are all available on the official Viz Media website in both physical and digital versions. The series continues to release new chapters each week, and it has more than enough material to even release two seasons.
Kagurabachi’s Anime Rumors Have Been Circulating For Over a Year

Kagurabachi gained a massive fanbase shortly after its debut, and they have been awaiting an anime adaptation ever since. Whether it’s from an official source or a passing rumor, talk of the series getting an anime has been going around for over a year. According to a report in July 2024, Shueisha applied to trademark Kagurabachi across various categories, including animation. Since these trademarks are crucial for securing rights related to anime projects, the report naturally led to Kagurabachi fans viewing this piece of information as an encouraging sign.

By the end of 2025, Toyo Keizai reported that CygamesPictures, being labeled as a โCyberagent x Shochiku Production,โ will be working on the anime adaptation. However, the report has yet to be confirmed by an official source. Cyberagent is the studio behind Summer 2025’s best horror series, The Summer When Hikaru Died. In the same month, the official X account of Netflix Japan created headlines by possibly teasing Kagurabachi and Akane-banashi anime adaptations. Netflix shared a trailer titled “With Friends, Jump Anime, and Netflix” featuring brief glimpses of the already adapted anime like One Piece, Sakamoto Days, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Blue Box.
Additionally, the caption reads, “A huge collection of Jump anime titles on Netflix! You can enjoy classic anime and the latest hits on Netflix!” However, the trailer also shows panels from Kagurabachi and Akane-banashiโs manga, sparking rumors about Netflix acquiring the anime rights of other Shonen Jump hits like they did with Sakamoto Days. The unexpected trailer sparked debates about the two beloved series, and as expected, Akane-Banashi already announced its anime adaptation in August 2025, and it may not be long before Kagurabachi does the same.
