This month, Yu-Gi-Oh! fans have been subjected to some turbulent anime updates. The franchise is gearing up to debut a brand-new anime, but reports recently surfaced about the show being delayed. With Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V wrapping up its tenure, the franchise will fill the show's void with a new anime titled Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS. The show, which was meant to debut in April, has since been pushed back an entire month to give creators time to flesh out the series. And, now, the folks behind VRAINS are appeasing fans with new character designs.

So far, Yu-Gi-Oh! fans have only been treated to images of the protagonist of VRAINS. The boy is named Yūsaku Fujiki, and his love for Duel Monsters is only challenged by his talented hacking skills. Aside from Fujiki, no other characters have been released - that is, until now. Recently, fans learned the names of two other anime leads, and character posters for the two figures have now dropped.
In the image below, fans will get their first-look at characters Gō Onizuka and Aoi Zaizen. The two leads look quite different from one another, and no one is quite sure about their personalities just yet.
Judging by the image, it seems as if Aoi will be a classmates and likely friend to Fujiki given her youthful look. Her tidy school uniform also gives way to her probably partnership with Fujiki in the series. According to new reports, the heroine will act as another high-ranking duelist who goes by the moniker Blue Angel.
As for Gō, the character looks much wilder. The muscular man is decked out in intense armor and has on green-and-purple trousers. His look is completed by gold accessories and an arm brace, but fans aren't quite sure where his loyalties will stand. However, if new reports are to be believed, it looks like the macho man will act as Fujiki's rival.
Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS is slated to introduce a brand-new style of dueling to the franchise when it does hit television. The tech-savvy series will see its leads go card-to-card in virtual reality arenas which bring fearsome Duel Monsters to life. Fujiki will act as the show's protagonist, and the character is said to be a shy one. The talented player is described as a wallflower, but his hacking skills and strategic mind are unparalleled. Whenever Fujiki enters a duel, the character undergoes both a physical and mental transformation. The result leaves the boy with very colorful hair and a strong will to win his duels.
The anime will also introduce new characters to the series. The flagship Duel Monster of Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will be Decode Talker, a robotic creature who carries a massive sword. So, it looks like Yugi's go-to Dark Magician may want to take note of the familiar-looking monster.
