Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, your patience has finally been rewarded. After plenty of waiting, the folks behind the franchise’s new anime has debuted its first trailer. Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS has premiered some long-awaited footage, and fans are feeling optimistic about the show’s leads so far.

In the trailer, fans are given a good look at protagonist Fujiki Yusaku goes about the real-world and hi-tech VR world of Duel Monsters. The character’s colorful hair is a clear throwback to the franchise’s other leads, and Yusaku’s timid personality will remind fans of Yugi. In the real world, the boy is a quiet student, but he moonlights in the VR world as a formidable Duelist known as Playmaker. The hero is known for his vendetta against the seedy Knights of Hanoi organization threatening the VR world, but Yusaku will have to rely on more Duelists than just himself to defeat the gang.

“There is a city where network systems have evolved: Den City. In this city, with the advanced network technology developed by the corporation “SOL Technology,” a Virtual Reality space called “LINK VRAINS” has been developed, and in this VR Space people became excited over the latest way to Duel.

However, in LINK VRAINS, a mysterious hacker group that hacks via Dueling has appeared:The Knights of Hanoi. Their goal is to destroy the “AI World” known as “Cyberse” that exists somewhere in the depths of the Network.

However, there is one Duelist who stands against the threat to LINK VRAINS. His name is “Playmaker”. He has become famous in the Network World for crushing the “Knights of Hanoi” in fierce Duels without mentioning his name. But the true identity of “Playmaker” is ordinary high school student Fujiki Yusaku, who pursues the “Knights of Hanoi” that appear in VRAINS in order to find out the truth of an incident that happened in the past.”

As for the cast, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will be headed up by a team of anime veterans. Takahashi Kazuki created the original idea along with Studio Dice. Masahiro Hosoda will director, and fans will know the man his work on Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.
