Marvel Comics has released their first preview of All-New Hawkeye #1, the revamped Hawkeye series from writer Jeff Lemire and artist Ramon Perez.

The new series will split its focus between the present-day adventures of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, and Clint upbringing with his brother, Barney. In the present, Clint and Kate will enter a caper that spans both of their generations, with connections leading deep into each archer’s past.

“I’m trying to tell a longer story. I have no set plan for when the story ends or anything,” Lemire told ComicBook.comย last year. It’s going to be broken up into four or five issue arcs, but they’re all adding up to a bigger story. It’s more like writing a novel, as opposed to short stories.

For fans who noticed the series’ two distinct art styles, the contrast was a deliberate move by Ramon Perez. As he told ComicBook.com last year, Perez wanted his scenes set in the past to emulate the murkiness of memory.

“One thing I’m trying to figure out is, how do you emulate memory? For the most part, they’re just blurs in your head. There aren’t any concrete elements that you can anchor to. So I want to bring that element to the younger Clint storyline,” he said. “I’m still developing the contemporary stuff a little bit. I’ll do something a little more traditional, but I’m still playing around with it.”
