Another new show is coming to AMC, which will target comic book fans. AMC already airs The Walking Dead, which is based on the Image Comics series, as well as Kevin Smith’s Comic Book Men. AMC has now ordered a new reality pilot called Geek Out, which stars fanboy Ernet Cline.Ernet Cline was the writer of the Fanboys movie, and he will serve as co-host of Geek Out. The second host for the show has not yet been cast. The concept for Geek Out is basically that it’s a wish-fulfillment show for super-fans. While comic book fans will be featured, it will also include fans of video games, music, TV shows, etc. Ernest Cline and his co-host will travel around the country to surprise fans by giving them their dream fan experience.”Conceptually, Geek Out is right in AMC’s wheelhouse of appealing to the fanboy community and ultimately creating an indelible moment in one lucky person’s life,” said Joel Stillerman, who is executive VP of original programming at AMC.”Geek Out celebrates a different facet of fanboy and fangirl culture, as we ‘geek out’ at the kind of epic level that usually only occurs at Comic Con,” said Ernest Cline.Assuming Geek Out makes the jump from pilot to series, it has not been announced when it will air, but AMC has a block of reality programming that airs on Thursday night, including Comic Book Men. Interestingly enough, Comic Book Men has not yet been picked up by AMC for a third season. Geek Out would be a great show for AMC to pair on the schedule with Comic Book Men.
