The George Clooney/Sanda Bullock-starring Gravity is looking to make $50 million this weekend–that’s a record for any original property in October. The film, which was in development hell at Universal when former Warner Bros. executive Jeff Robinov (a champion of Christopher Nolan and Ben Affleck at the studio, among other things) rescued it, did $17 million on Friday and is expected to make between $48 million and $51 million this weekend. The movie is also performing strongly on IMAX, something that helped end the slide of the company’s stock after a very bad week.Runner Runner, meanwhile, the Ben Affleck/Justin Timberlake drama from Fox, is underperforming–looking at a $2.8 million Friday and a $10 million-$12 million weekend. You can read our reviews by Zach Roberts – “Sandra Bullock owns every minute“–and Adam P.
