Tactical RPG Masquerada: Songs and Shadows is set around the story of Cicero, a detective who is brought back from exile to solve a kidnapping of a diplomat. That central mystery will open up a great deal throughout the course of the game, causing you and your party to become involved with a quickly escalating civil war.

While there currently is no shortage of tactics based games on the market, not to mention Kickstarter, Masquerada surrounds the strategic proceedings with an alluring visage. It blends smooth animations with its Venetian art stylings, giving the game a look similar to a classic animated film. The animation lends itself well to the tactical battles, lending every swing of an axe or blast of a spell a greater intensity. Throw in a mask system that allows the player to control their available abilities as well as a weapon enhancement system, and you’ve got plenty of content to dive into.
The developers at Witching Hour Studios are also placing a great emphasis on story, enlisting some top quality voice talent like Matthew Mercer, Catherine Taber, and Jennifer Hale among others to bring life to the over 500-page script. The gameplay aims for quick-paced battles, allowing the player to pause and issue direct commands if things get overwhelming. For PC players, you can download an early demo right now to get a feel for things, and if the game is funded it will be deploying to PC, Mac, and PS4.
The only issue is that right now it sits at 13 days left and still needs $57,257 to hit its goal. If you’re interested in backing, or just want to see more information about the game, you can head to their Kickstarter page here.
