While one might expect a big event like the 85th Academy Awards to be filled with movie trailer commercials, that is surprisingly not the case. In fact, the Academy use to have some fairly strict rules about studios advertising during the Oscars to avoid any perception of impropriety.Despite the fact that most of the restrictions have been relaxed in recent years, there are only two studios that have confirmed they will be airing movie trailers during the Oscars. Since ABC (which is owned by Disney) is airing the 85th Academy Awards, it’s not surprising that one of the two studios advertising is Disney.Even though Robert Downey Jr. will be presenting at the Oscars (along with several other Avengers), it doesn’t appear as if fans will get a new Iron Man 3 trailer during the telecast, unless Disney plans to pull a last minute surprise. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney will actually be promoting Oz: The Great And Powerful, which is set to open on March 8, 2013.The other studio that has bought advertising besides Disney is 20th Century Fox. And while fans will get to see Hugh Jackman at the Oscars because he is nominated for Best Actor for his role in Les Misรฉrables, Fox will unfortunately not be promoting his upcoming movie The Wolverine. Director James Mangold recently confirmed that fans shouldn’t expect to see a Wolverine trailer until late March.Instead, 20th Century Fox will be running a commercial for The Heat, which is an action-comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. The Heat is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 28, 2013.
