One the biggest (literally) elements of the franchise being adapted for this new movie is Megazord, the Voltron-like robot that’s created when the five Power Rangers combine their individual Zord battleships into one unit. With Power Rangers trailer 2, we now have a look at the new Megazord in action onscreen, and can examine the new adaptation a little more closely.

We got a previous look at the concept for the new Megazord via imagery of the robot’s tie-in action figure – but seeing it in finished live-action is something else entirely. Like everything else in this new vision of the Power Rangers, Megazord has a much more alien vibe to him. The Megazords from the classic Power Rangers series have been more like giant clunky robots – but this movie version is sleek and almost techno-organic reptilian, while still somehow invoking the feel of one of Michael Bay’s Transformers.

Longtime fans of the classic series may not get swayed by the experience of seeing this new Megazord in live-action instead of toy form, but for newcomers, it seems that the action sequences director Dean Israelite put together will be compelling enough to possibly make this new Megazord standout as a badass.
