DC Comics has been killing it in 2025. The Absolute books became the bestselling comics in the land, garnering praise from fans and critics alike. DC All-In, which began in 2024, has revitalized their main line of superhero books. The Black Label has been dropping banger after banger all year. Superman brought fans to the comic shops in a way that no MCU film has and DC took advantage of it beautifully. This has been a tremendous year to be a DC fans; the publisher has rebuilt its multiverse, reminding people why they love their heroes and villains so much. Readers got the best stories in superheroes from Detective Comics Comics (I love saying that) in 2025, bar none.

There are so many killer stories from the publisher this year that it’s very hard to actually pare it all down to a list. DC has been giving its fans everything they could have wanted and then some. It’s been fantastic, honestly. 2026 is looking to be amazing as wel, but lets give some spotlight to the publisher’s latest stories before we enter the new year. These are the ten must-read DC Comics stories of 2025, amazing little yarns that deserve their flowers (Note: DC K.O. isn’t on this list, and the only reason it isn’t is because it’s finishing up in 2026; however, you should still definitely read it).

10) Supergirl (Vol. 8) #1-4

Supergirl is headed back into theaters for the first time in decades in 2026, with a movie based on the spectacular Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In preparation for that, DC gave the Girl of Steel a new series, from writer/artist Sophie Campbell. Supergirl (Vol. 8) is an outstanding comic, and the first four issues of the book, “Adventures in Midvale”, is the perfect reintroduction to Supergirl. Kara Zor-El returns to Midvale, only to find that no one remembers her and that a new Supergirl has taken her place, both with her adopted parents and as the hero of the town. Teaming with Lena Luthor, the Kryptonian teen has to take her life back. This story is a perfect slice of life superhero tale. It feels modern all while playing off the classic elements of the heroine’s past. This is everything you could want from the Maid of Might, a flawless kick-off for one of the most entertaining series of 2025.

9) Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman

Tom King’s Wonder Woman has been contentious among fans, but it gave readers one of the most fun comics of the last decade. Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman #1-6, by King and Belen Ortega, follows three different versions of Diana’s daughter from across time, her childhood, her teen self, and the young adult version, as they band together to travel through time and save their versions of Damian Wayne and Jon Kent, who have been transformed into corgis and thrown into the past. This series is hilarious and heartfelt, with a heartbreaking romantic subplot. One minute, you’ll be laughing and the next minute you’ll be crying. Ortega’s art is fantastic, and really showcases the heart and humor of the story.

8) Batman #1

Batman is usually one of the bestselling books every month, but it’s not always the most praised. However, all of that changed with 2025’s Batman #1, by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez. Fraction joined the book after a middling run from Chip Zdarsky, and knocked it into the stratosphere with the first issue. A one and done story that sees Batman hunting down a further mutated Killer Croc, it takes a story that we’ve read a million times and makes it into something very special. It was the perfect way to show readers they were getting a new era of the Dark Knight, with a story that is exciting and touching. Jimenez is trying for the crown of the greatest Batman artist of the 21st century, giving readers the kind of amazing visuals that really bring the story to life. This is flawless Batman, and you need to check it out.

7) “We Are Yesterday”

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest was DC’s best book since it dropped in 2022, showcasing past versions of the two heroes in their first team-ups, with Mark Waid and Dan Mora dropping the greatest superhero stories around on readers. The two worked together on Shazam and Absolute Power before teaming up for Justice League Unlimited. “We Are Yesterday” is a crossover between World’s Finest and Justice League Unlimited that pit the Superman and Batman of the past and the Justice League Unlimited against the Gorilla Grodd of the present and a past version of the Legion of Doom in a time-spanning story that saw Grodd making a play for ultimate power in more than one time period. Waid, Mora, Clayton Henry, and Travis Moore gave readers a true epic that tied into DC K.O. and showcases the kind of mindbending action that DC does so well. “We Are Yesterday” is a gem, perfect superhero madness of the highest order.

6) “Legion of Darkseid”

Superman has been amazing since its 2023 relaunch, and it quickly became a key book to DC AlI-In, with Joshua Williamson and Dan Mora laying a lot of the groundwork for DC K.O. Summer 2025 saw the book pay off a plot line introduced in DC All-In #1 in the blockbuster story “Legion of Darkseid”. After being attacked by the Darkseid Legion, who came from a future conquered by the God of Evil, the Time Trapper agrees to help Superman rescue Booster Gold from the villains in a last ditch effort to stop Darkseid’s apocalypse. First, they have to recruit an ally Superman never thought he’d have: Superboy-Prime. This story was outstanding, a pulse-pounding superhero epic that will shock you again and again. Williamson and Mora are always a great team, but it feels like they’ve reached another level with this story. It’s worth it just to see the best version of Prime ever, but even beyond that, it’s fantastic.

5) Absolute Batman Annual #1

Absolute Batman has been a favorite of fans, selling like hotcakes and giving readers a new kind of Batman. However, the best comic starring this new Bruce Wayne didn’t came from the main series but from Absolute Batman Annual #1. This book gave readers two stories, one from Daniel Warren Johnson and the other from James Warren, and it’s one of the best reads of the year. DWJ’s story is a flashback story that tells the tale of Batman battling a group of white supremacists who want to ethnically cleanse their neighborhood, while meeting someone from his father’s past. What follows is a story that really has to be seen to be believed. DWJ is able to combine good character-based emotional storytelling with amazing action, with pages that will leave your jaw agape. Warren’s story doesn’t hit as hard, but is just as a good, as a son has to deal with the sins he committed in the name of his father. This is an amazing comic, one that stirred up a lot of controversy, an issue about two sons coming to terms with their fathers in two different stories.

4) Absolute Wonder Woman #1-7

DC’s Absolute books are outstanding, comics that rethink classic DC characters in perfect ways. All six titles have gotten their share of praise, but the one that is generally considered to be the best is easily Absolute Wonder Woman, by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman. Thompson and Sherman are creating the best version of Diana, and the first seven issues of the book, collected as “The Last Amazon”, lay out everything that fans could want from the beginning. Thompson is able to let the true heroism and compassion that is Diana to shine through, with amazing art from Sherman. This is peak Wonder Woman, and everyone who likes the heroine, or just wants a fantastic story, need to pick their up.

3) Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum

Ice Cream Man is one of the best horror books on the market. W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo gave readers some chilling stories, tales which would lead you to believe that they’re the last two creators you’d expect to, say, tell what amounts to a wild Silver Age imaginary story about Superman. Well, 2025 gave readers exactly that with the five-issue Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum. A Kryptonite meteor hits the Earth will all new types of the mineral. Superman enlists Batman to help him experiment and discover what each one does, while Lex Luthor makes his latest attack. The best way I can describe this book is to say that it’s kind of like All-Star Superman in the look and feel of it, all while being nothing like that comic in a lot of ways. 2025 was the year of Superman, and we got plenty of amazing books starring the Man of Steel, but none of the others can match this one.

2) Absolute Martian Manhunter #1-6

Absolute Wonder Woman was the crown jewel of the Absolute line for most fans until Absolute Martian Manhunter, from Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez, dropped. The book told the story of John Jones, an FBI agent who ends up with the Green Martian in his head. The two of them work together to help the people of Middleton when the White Martian attacks, all while Jones’s family life falls apart. Absolute Martian Manhunter is a perfect fusion of story and art, every issue a mindblowing feast for the eyes and the mind. This six-issue story is one of the greatest things you’ll ever read, a true masterpiece of the form of comic art. Pages from this book will etch themselves into your mind. As good as you’ve heard it is, it’s honestly better than that. Read it and find out.

1) Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma

Ram V is the greatest writer working in the comic industry right now. The Indian writer brings a unique viewpoint to his works at DC and Marvel, while giving readers the best indie comics you can imagine, and it’s paid off in every comic he’s written. 2025 saw him team up with fellow Indian Anand RK for a book starring one of the most underrated DC character ever in Mitch Shelley, the Resurrection Man. Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma sees the immortal man meet his greatest challenge, both from an enemy that is obsessed with devouring him and from a mysterious man trying to help him save the universe. V and RK take readers on an astounding, gripping ride that will make you understand the sorrow of an immortal man. There are so many facets to this story, the beautiful art really bringing the script to life. Resurrection Man co-creator Jackson Guice drew a few pages for the book before his death, the perfect capstone to his career. Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma is the best story of the 2025, and if you missed it you need to hunt it down (also, V and Evan Cagle’s New Gods #1-12 is a masterpiece; get that one too while you’re at it).
