Created for the DC Animated Universe, the Justice Lords of Earth-50 hail from a world where one death corrupted DCโ€™s greatest heroes. When Lex Luthor becomes the president, he executes the Flash. In reaction and having had enough of his nemesis, Superman murders Luthor with his heat-vison. Afterwards, Superman and the rest of the League including Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter, become the Justice Lords, who rule over their world with an iron fist. The Justice Lords have made frequent attempts to conquer Earth-12 and have come to blows with that universeโ€™s Justice League several times. With its tragic origin and fearsome personalities, the Justice Lords has made the leap into comics and has been featured in several storylines.

Debuting in its very own movie animated titled Justice League: Gods and Monsters, this universe depicts a darker incarnation of the Justice League. In this universe, the Justice League is only comprised of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Superman is the son of General Zod and was raised by Mexican immigrants, Batman is a vampire, and Wonder Woman is a New God. All of them have incredible and captivating origins that put fresh spins on these classic heroes. Together they are a team of anti-heroes who are keen to kill their enemies, which has led the government and the public to distrust them. Still, the film and prequel comics present this version of the Justice League as well-meaning anti-heroes who are trying to help people.

The legacy of the Justice League exists far into the future, with countless people being inspired by their heroism. In the 853rd century, when humanity has colonized the solar system, its primary defenders are the Justice Legion Alpha. The teamโ€™s members are comprised of various future incarnations of modern-day heroes like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Atom, and Starman. Additional members include Owlwoman and Resurrection Man. This futuristic team has used time travel to meet its modern-day counterparts on several occasions to fight villains like Solaris and Vandal Savage. With almost every member of the Justice Legion Alpha possessing cosmic power while still being selfless heroes, it represents how the future is bright for the DC Universe.

Veteran heroes who are still part of the League include Superman and Big Barda. The next-generation members include the Flash, Green Lantern Kai Ro, Aquagirl, Warhawk, and Micron. However, the teamโ€™s most iconic member is the teenage Terry McGinnis, aka Batman Beyond, who is Bruce Wayneโ€™s successor. Together they have battled many world-threatening villains like Starro, Jax-Ur, and the Justice Lords.

One of the most iconic alternate versions of a superhero team, the Crime Syndicate is a dark reflection of the Justice League. Hailing from Earth-3, where morality is flipped on its head, the Crime Syndicate is an alliance of its worldโ€™s most powerful and sadistic supervillains. Possessing all the Justice Leagueโ€™s power but none of its morals, the Crime Syndicate rules its world through fear and violence. The team is comprised of Ultraman, Owlman, Superwoman, Johnny Quick, and Power Ring, with other villains like Atomica, Grid, and Deathstorm joining them later. One of the chief adversaries of the man universeโ€™s Justice League, the Crime Syndicate, helped popularize the concept of evil doppelgรคngers from another Earth.

This new Justice League combines the heroes of several generations, from the Golden to the Modern Age of comics. Some notable members include Batman, Wonder Woman, Wally West Flash, Green Lantern Alan Scott, Power Woman, Red Robin, Atom-Smasher, among others.
