X-Men’s Most Powerful Omega-Level Mutants, Ranked

Marvel Comics has a ranking system for mutants, with lower-level mutants, Alpha-level mutants, and, at the top, the Omega-level mutants. When it comes to mutants in the X-Men and other teams, the Omega-level mutants represent heroes and villains who have no known limits to their powers. This means that an Omega-level psychic has almost no limit to what they can do concerning mind control with their powers, while a telekinetic could lift and move nearly anything, with no limit to its weight. However, to keep things from getting out of control, there are not that many Omega-level mutants, but the ones who exist are extremely powerful. It is also hard to tell the difference sometimes, as Professor Charles Xavier is not categorized as an Omega-level mutant, but Jean Grey is.

Here is a look at the Omega-level mutants in Marvel Comics, from the powerful psychics to the mutants who threaten to destroy the world.

10) Proteus

Proteus is Kevin MacTaggert, the son of Moira MacTaggert, an X-Men ally who thought she was a human ally to the X-Men for years before realizing she was a mutant who could reset the timeline by starting her life over. Kevin, known as Proteus, has similar powers to his mother as he can also warp reality. Proteus does this by generating psionic energy that he can use to manipulate reality. While he can only do this in a limited area around himself, he can actually expand it around Earth, throughout different dimensions, and planes of existence. He was one of the mutants needed for the resurrection protocols on Krakoa.

9) Iceman

For many years, most people didn’t consider Iceman as more than a low-level mutant. However, this turned out to be readers and many heroes and villains underestimating Bobby Drake. He is, in fact, an Omega-level mutant who has control over ice. What is scary about Iceman is that his powers are not at their highest level on a daily basis, but certain people have unlocked his full potential, including Loki and Emma Frost. What makes him an Omega-level mutant is that he can freeze anything, including light, hellfire, and even time.

8) Exodus

Exodus is one of the oldest mutants in history, a 12th-century nobleman from France who was sent to fight in the Crusades. His mutant powers awakened during this war, and then Apocalypse found him, enhanced his powers even more, and made Exodus his champion. However, he was defeated and sent into a coma, where he was imprisoned for thousands of years before Magneto found him and freed him. He is considered a Psionic of the Highest Order and is regarded as one of the most powerful mutants alive. He is one of the most powerful telekinetics in the world, capable of lifting and throwing anything. Exodus is a high-order telepath who can read minds and project his own thoughts into others. He even overpowered Professor X mentally. However, one thing that holds him back is that his powers intensify when people have faith in him and diminish when people lose faith in him.

7) Magneto

Magneto and Professor X are the two main mutants who stood on opposite sides at the start of the Marvel Comics mutant storylines. While Charles Xavier is not an Omega-level mutant, Magneto is. As his name suggests, he possesses the power to control magnetism, which he has used against humans for years, knowing they would always persecute and harm mutants. At first, he was listed as an Alpha-level mutant like Xavier. However, he was upgraded in recent years thanks to the discovery that his control of magnetism is practically limitless. He has proven that he can manipulate an entire planet’s electromagnetic field, and he could destroy the world with earthquakes and floods if he so chose.

6) Vulcan

Vulcan is Gabriel Summers, the brother of Cyclops, although Scott was made to forget his existence for many years thanks to Professor X. He was raised on the Shi’ar Throneworld and artificially aged before he escaped and made his way to Earth. He was part of the first team that tried to rescue the original X-Men, but was presumed dead. However, he survived, and after M-Day, he gained even more powers and became the Omega-level mutant he is known as today. He can manipulate all forms of energy to project them into anything he wants. He can even manipulate cosmic energy, and his powers became even more potent after his resurrection on Krakoa.

5) Kid Omega

Kid Omega began his life as a young student at Xavier’s school, where he was often a troublemaker and caused more problems than he seemed to be worth. He also had a high belief in his own abilities, which turned out to be an accurate representation of his power. No less than Jean Grey has said that Kit Omega might be the most powerful psychic mutant on Earth, after herself and select others. While training him, she said the only thing holding him back was his own arrogance. He can read, affect, and manipulate minds on a massive scale, and he can even enter the astral plane and bend it to his will.

4) Hope Summers

Hope Summers is also known as the Mutant Messiah. That is because Hope was the first mutant born after M-Day, and immediately found her life in danger. Cable returned to protect her, knowing her from the future and explaining that she was the one mutant who would save all others in the future. However, a mutant named Bishop also returned from the future, and in his timeline, she killed a million humans and turned humanity against all mutants, which led to his apocalyptic future. Her main mutant power is to copy the powers of any nearby mutant. And unlike Rogue, she doesn’t need to touch them, and the person she takes the powers of is not affected at all. She also has all their full powers and complete control over them, and there is no limit to how many mutant powers she takes on at once.

3) Legion

Legion is not only one of the most powerful Omega-level mutants in history, but also the most dangerous because of his fractured mind and unpredictability. He is Professor Xavier’s son, and his powers are complicated. He has the ability to create spontaneous mutations for himself, and when he creates a new power, he develops a new alter to use this power. According to Legion himself, he has 200 Omega-level split personalities, and the only limit is that he only accesses one at a time, with all the others battling for supremacy in his head. Rogue said it was more because when she touched him, she saw thousands of different powers in his head and more being born all the time.

2) Storm

Storm is not only a mutant, but she is also an Avatar of Life, which gives her even more powers. As the Avatar of Life, she has a connection to nature and life, which helps her control her mutant powers more effectively. Even Eternity said that Storm was worthy of serving as a mortal host for the higher being. As for her mutant powers, she is an Omega-level mutant who can manipulate the weather. This encompasses every facet of the weather and atmosphere, with potential power levels considered “nigh-infinte.” She can control Earthly ecosystems, as well as extraterrestrial forms of weather, and Storm is regarded as one of the most powerful mutants in the universe.

1) Jean Grey

Jean Grey is an Omega-level mutant who is also the deadliest mutant ever to live. She is an Omega-level psychic. However, she began her career in the X-Men as a telekinetic, as Charles Xavier had blocked her psychic powers to protect her. However, thanks to the Hellfire Club messing with her mind, her powers ended up unlocked, and this caused her to lash out with the Phoenix Force she gained on a recent space mission. While it is the Phoenix Force that makes her a universal threat, her mutant powers are also massive. She is one of, if not the most powerful, psychics in existence, and there are some cases where she has been called the most powerful person in the universe, second only, possibly, to the god known as The One Above All.
