Fans who contribute to the campaign can get their hands on goods previously offered only through the Kickstarter campaign, including reprints of the original Swords of the Swashbucklers, t-shirts, and other merch tied into the series.
Swords of the Swashbucklers is the brainchild of Bill Mantlo – one of Marvel Comics‘ most prolific writers and the co-creator of beloved Guardians of the Galaxy sensation, Rocket Raccoon.
A pirate adventure on interstellar seas, the beloved Swords of the Swashbucklers series was illustrated by the phenomenal Jackson “Butch” Guice and has not seen print in over 25 years. It’s a story that’s long overdue for preservation as a high-quality, completely remastered trade paperback.
More importantly, the campaign and the publishing of the comic, which will launch from Dynamite and be written by Mantlo fan and Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim, celebrates the far-reaching imagination of Bill Mantlo, a shining star of the comic industry whose career was tragically cut short in his prime by a hit-and-run accident.
With pledges of support for Kickstarter and IndieGoGo rewards, The Mantlo family will generate much-needed royalty income from this essential tale that will contribute to Bill’s continued medical care.
