Netflix and the CW have officially announced a new mufti-year content licensing deal that will keep Netflix the exclusive home for past seasons of the CW's scripted series, including popular DC Comics superhero shows Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. The deal also covers iZombie, Supernatural, The 100, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, and upcoming 2016-2017 debuts Riverdale, Frequency, and No Tomorrow.
As previously rumored, the deal also significantly shortens the window between a show’s season finale and the date it can stream via Netflix. The streaming service will now be able to host each show’s latest season just eight days after the season finale.
“Netflix members in the US love the great lineup of series from The CW, and we are thrilled to extend the relationship and bring those shows to our members exclusively now, just eight days after their season finales,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix in a press release. “This is a great step forward with a valued network partner to give fans exactly what they want, when and how they want it.”
