Green Lanterns #16 Brings Back [Spoiler] As A Yellow Lantern

Life just isn't interested in giving Simon Baz or Jessica Cruz a break it seems. The two Green Lanterns are already on edge thanks to having to work with Batman, but now their rogues gallery has received an unwelcome expansion.

Spoilers incoming for Green Lanterns #16, so if you haven't read it yet you've been warned.

In part one of the Darkest Knights storyline, Baz and Cruz are requested in Gotham due to a series of fear-inspired incidents. It turns out that people are being seized by terror with no warning and are driven to violence. Batman calls in the Lanterns due to their experience in dealing with the Yellow Lantern Corps, who he believes to be the culprit.

The Lanterns are adamant however that they would be able to detect the presence of Yellow Lanterns, and instead, believe the culprit to be Batman's frequent rogue the Scarecrow. Batman being Batman, he doesn't take too kindly to the questioning of his detective skills, not to mention there aren't any traces of gas, germs, or liquid at the scenes, his favored methods.

By issue's end, their rings do find a yellow lantern signal coming from somewhere in Gotham, an old office building with several office staff under the light's influence. The originator of the signal? That is none other than Scarecrow, wearing his green costume with a Fear Corps symbol painted on it and somehow again wielding the yellow light of fear.

Turns out they were both right after all.

Scarecrow was drafted into the Fear Corps during the Blackest Night event, alongside the Flash (Hope), Wonder Woman (Love), Lex Luthor (Avarice), Mera (Rage), and The Atom (Compassion). This version seems to be even more off kilter than he was back then, though, so who knows how he managed to hold of that power once again.
