If you were hoping today was the day Aquaman unveiled its first-look at Black Manta, then your wishes just came to a burning halt. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II had DCEU fans in a frenzy today after the star teased he would debut a first-look at Manta online, but the crafty actor just pulled one over fans. As you can see with the tweet below, Abdul-Mateen trolled fans hard about Black Manta, and fans are losing their minds.

Over on Twitter, Abdul-Mateen posted a message not long ago which warned fans he would be bringing Black Manta out for the world to see. However, the fandom was given no such thing. What they got was a trollish photo of Abdul-Mateen dressed in civilian attire with a cooking pot on his head and kitchen utensils strapped to his wrists.

“BLACK MANTA REVEAL!!! Hahahahahahaha Rule number 1… Never trust the Good Guys!!!” the actor wrote.

Abdul-Mateen also posted a video of him gloating about his perfectly executed prank.

“Hahahahaha! Did you really think that I would give up my plans? Only to be devoured and eaten by a shark as if this was season two of Young Justice? You get nothing! You lose. Good day, sir!”

Unsurprisingly, the Internet is having a field day with Abdul-Mateen’s plot, and memes are being thrown all over the DCEU fandom. You can check out some of the best responses in the slides below!

Alright, we admit it: Abdul-Mateen got us good. The DCEU fandom is bowing down to his expertise, but for real – when can we see Black Manta IRL?!

You have to admit, this would be one hell of a fight. Jason Momoa’s trident may not withstand the sheer fear which Abdul-Mateen’s kitchen knife inspires.

It’s good to know that the Internet quickly connected Abdul-Mateen’s look to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The actor maybe got the character Black Manta and Black Knight confused…

In this moment, the DCEU fandom has never felt more like Will Smith circa The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The funky show knows exacty how fans feel right now.
