Wonder Woman is on the way and it will arrive with some of the lightest and more comedic moments which have been offered in the DC Extended Universe to date.

Teaming Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor, Patty Jenkins is bringing a fun and funny film to theaters in less than a couple of weeks. It’s something many fans are looking forward to and they’re not alone in it. Pine revealed to ComicBook.com that he particularly loved the brand of comedy presented in Wonder Woman during an interview at a press event for the film.
“That was the whole, I thought, the comedy of it,” Pine said. “There’s this joke in the beginning about being above average but that’s the joke is that men are so vein. You compound that in a time where the patriarchy is where women don’t even have suffrage yet. It’s not a good time for being a women. This man has to deal with the fact that this woman is so much stronger and better in so many ways than he is. I just love the comedy of it. I love playing the foolish, buffoon who had to learn a lot about, as many of us men do, what it means to be a human being. It doesn’t matter what equipment you have.”

In fact, Jenkins set out to inject Wonder Woman with humor from the start. The director spoke to ComicBook.com at WonderCon, offering some perspective of her own.
“I think there’s funny things in both of those films but we definitely went for making a funny film. I was always basing it on Superman I and on Indiana Jones. I wanted to make a classic film where you’re laughing and you’re in love with them and then they’re off on a fun great adventure. It’s definitely in the pursuit of our film.”
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
