The Flash picks back up this week after a brief Spring hiatus with 'The Once and Future Flash' showing Barry time travel to 2024 in hopes of getting more answers on how to stop Savitar before he ends up murdered the love of his life, Iris West.

While it looks like we will indeed find out the true identity of season three's big bad prior to the season finale, the season could very well end on another cliffhanger — that is, of course, according to the scoop maestros over at TVLine.

"After discovering Savitar's true identity, Team Flash prepares for a final, epic battle with the God of Speed…while struggling with a major setback," TVLine shared. "Expect a season-ending cliffhanger that will leave viewers — and the heroes —questioning how they will move forward in Season 4."

A season-ending cliffhanger certainly wouldn't be something brand new to the show. If you pull your best Barry Allen impression and travel back a few years, you'll remember that season one ended as a black hole opened up over Central City that threatened to swallow the whole city whole.

Then as season two began to wrap up, we saw Barry race back in time to prevent Thawne from killing his mother, a move that created the Flashpoint time of events which has in turn been the driving force behind this story arc of season three.

The scoop from TVLine seems particularly worrisome for those hoping to see all of Team Flash escape season three unscathed. While "struggling with a major setback" doesn't necessarily mean one of the colleagues at STAR Labs will suffer an untimely death, we could certainly see one of them suffer a major injury. After all, we have seen Wally West unable to move around without the help of a wheelchair in 2024 in the time Barry has traveled to the future.

The Flash airs on The CW Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. Eastern.

In 'The Once and Future Flash,' Barry (Grant Gustin) travels to the future to find out Savitar's still unknown identity in the hopes of saving Iris (Candice Patton). Upon his arrival in 2024, Barry encounters future versions of his Team Flash friends, who, following the death of Iris, have become very different people, profoundly impacted by their showdown with Savitar. It will be up to Barry to infuse a sense of hope back into the team, as he proves to be hero his future friends have been waiting for. Meanwhile, back in 2017, the hunt for Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) continues.

Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Carina Adly MacKenzie.
