Season one of The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow saw a few members of the team depart after the defeat of Vandal Savage. As it turns out, they’re going to need all the room they can get on the team roster, as season two looks to introduce the Justice Society of America, better known as The JSA.

At the Legends of Tomorrow panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the Executive Producers announced that Rex Tyler (Hourman) would not be the only member of the JSA to show up this season. They confirmed that fellow society members Dr. Mid-Nite, Stargirl, and Obsidian would also be making an appearance, though none of the roles have been cast as of yet.
With a group of so many heroes, they’re going to need someone equally as formidable to go against, and the creative team is happy to oblige. Not content with enlisting the services of one villain, the show creators announced that they’ve compiled their very own Legion of Doom. The antagonistic team consists of a who’s who of The CW’s other DC shows, including Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller).
It won’t be a one-off appearance either, as all four actors will be series regulars, and can still appear on the other CW shows. Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim commented on their new team of villains.
“For season two of Legends, we decided that the perfect antagonist for TV’s first-ever team of Super Heroes would be TV’s first-ever team of Super-Villains, recruited from the ranks of Arrow and The Flash’s deadliest adversaries. Being huge fans of the Challenge of the Superfriends, we’ve come to call this group our ‘Legion of Doom.’”
Combined with all the time travelling at the core of the show, this should make season two a delightfully chaotic experience. Legends of Tomorrow returns to The CW on October 13th.
