When DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns from its midseason hiatus, the series will be going way in time to tackle an actual Arthurian legend. That is, King Arthur himself. Earlier this month, the title for Season 2’s twelfth episode was confirmed as “Camelot 3000,” harkening back to an old-school DC Comic from the 1980s. Now, one of the first images from the set has been released, and it shows a rather bloody battle getting underway.
“Snow, rain, mud and stunts,” Nick Zano wrote on Instagram along with a behind-the-scenes look at “Camelot 3000.” The actor plays Dr. Nate Hayewood on Legends of Tomorrow, but he surely doesn’t look to glamorous in this shot. The actor is covered in mud and blood while he wields a sword to block an opponent’s attack. Set deep in some woods, the actor and his co-star are seen surrounded by extras dressed in Medieval garb and brandishing blunt clubs.
If you are not familiar with what “Camelot 3000” entails by its title, then you can easily catch-up on the reference. Back in 1982, DC Comics first published a Camelot 3000 as part of a twelve-issue comic book series. As you may have guessed, the series has to do with King Arthur and his comrades, but there is a slight twist. The king and his Knights of the Round Table are all reincarnated in the comics and live in 3000 A.D. The world has become an overpopulated, apocalyptic version of its old self, and the King must band together with his old friends to defeat Morgan Le Fay yet again.
So far, there is little information on how or if the Legends of Tomorrow episode will tie into Camelot 3000. Fans have obviously began to wonder whether the Legends might get up to some time traveling shenanigans and find themselves encountering King Arthur and his men. Judging by this picture, it looks like the Legends will be going back to the past or visit an immature timeline where King Arthur and his Knights are alive and well.
For now, fans will have to wait and see how the alleged reference will affect Legends of Tomorrow. In the meantime, the series is quickly approaching its midseason finale as it airs next week. If you want to read the synopsis for “The Chicago Way,” then you can check it out below:
