Tonight’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow took the team literally through war in the name of protecting the Spear of Destiny. But while the team faced off against the Legion of Doom and the politics of World War One, they found a new adversary – in the form of one of their own teammates.

Mick Rory/Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) spent the episode haunted by visions of his former partner, Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), as he has throughout the show’s sophomore season. But as he soon discovered, the Snart he was speaking to in ‘Fellowship of the Spear’ was actually alive – albeit plucked out of the timeline by the Legion of Doom.

With this surprising return, the team questioned whether or not Mick could maintain his allegiance to the team with Snart back in the picture. While Mick doubted their worrying, he ended up betraying the team in the episode’s final moments, handing the Spear – and himself – right over to the Legion of Doom.

This twist is sure to be a shock for some Legends fans – especially those who have appreciated Mick’s character development as the show has gone on. But with only two episodes remaining in the show’s season, it would be safe to assume that Mick will not ultimately be staying with the Legion. Especially when you consider the fact that Mick wanted the Spear to change his past, there’s a chance he will realize that it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be after next week’s episode ‘Doomworld’.

What did you think of Mick’s betrayal? Do you think he’ll stay a member of the Legion of Doom? Sound off in the comments below.

IT’S WAR โ€” The Legends must devise a plan to retrieve the last remaining fragments of the Spear of Destiny from the Legion of Doom. They enlist the help of a soldier by the name of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (guest star Jack Turner) and find that the Spear is leading them into the heart of the war. Meanwhile, the team must all resist the temptation of the Spear, and the return of a former teammate.
