The CW has released a new clip for 'Return of the Mack', tonight's fifth episode of Legends of Tomorrow's third season.

The clip previews the return of Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), who has been absent since the show's season three premiere. He comes aboard the Waverider to warn the Legends about an evil new villain, Mallus, and ask for their help.

The Legends are not on board with his suggestion, especially after Rip had previously sicked his "new girlfriend" - the Time Bureau - on the team. He eventually convinces the team to help, after promising that he will call off his "new girlfriend"'s hunt for the team.

This marks the newest instance of Rip actually working with the Legends again, something he has done sporadically since initially separating the team in the beginning of season two. While the Legends have flourished on their own in the episodes since, Rip will be a little nostalgic when working with the team.

"He can't resist it." executive producer Phil Klemmer told ComicBook.com. "Because, yes, he knows that the Time Bureau would probably be better off dealing with all of these anachronisms, but I think by the time we get to ['Return of the Mack'], he's kinda champing at the bit for a little fun. He's feeling nostalgic for some of the old chaos."

But it sounds like things won't be all fun and games, considering the looming threat of Mallus. While Mallus was initially mentioned earlier on in the season, this gives the first real indication of what his plan - which seems to involve recruiting other villains such as Kuasa (Tracy Ifeachor) - could actually be. Combined with the fact that Mallus' voice actor, Fringe alum John Noble, was announced earlier today, it's safe to assume that viewers will get to find out more about the mysterious villain.

Legends of Tomorrow airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
