The “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover that will run through The CW‘s DC Comics shows in November will bring back the Prometheus identity — but it won’t be Adrian Chase in the costume this time.

That mysterious second archer fans spotted on the “Crisis on Earth-X” poster is, as some had guessed, Prometheus — but on Earth-X, it wasn’t Chase (Josh Segarra) who took on the identity of Prometheus but someone else. Someone…not yet named.

Entertainment Weekly, who confirmed it was Prometheus, are speculating that it could be Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) under the mask, but earlier this week we had some other ideas.

There have been a lot of archers on Arrow, dark and otherwise, so let’s run down a list of potential candidates really quick, while acknowledging that any or none of these could be the one:

  • Arsenal (Roy Harper); actor Colton Haynes recently said he would return sooner than later.
  • Speedy (Thea Queen); we have no real idea what she is up to yet this season.
  • Tommy Merlyn; fans always want more Tommy, and what better time than the crossover?
  • Malcolm Merlyn; if you’re gonna have an evil archer…!

Guest appearances by any of the dead and/or gone characters above could be a real boon, while Thea would likely have the largest impact on Oliver, especially if she is still dead or otherwise off the board following the explosion on Lian Yu.

…Of course, if it turned out to be Roy or Tommy who pulled off that hood, that would be quite a moment for Oliver as well as the audience.

Arrow returns on October 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, following the season premiere of Supernatural.
