Tyler Hoechlin will bring the Man of Steel to life on The CW’s Supergirl this season, and while he’s excited for the opportunity to play Kara’s cousin, he isn’t so thrilled with every aspect of the job.

That namely relates to flying, as he told EW in a recent interview.
“I wouldn’t use the word difficult. I would use the word painful after hour seven or eight. It’s a harness that’s not necessarily the most comfortable thing to wear. It really only holds you up with two straps and they go from the back part of your waist, through the legs, up to the front part of the waist, and so it’s just not the most comfortable way to be supporting your entire body weight for that amount of time.”
He isn’t the first person to deal with the general uncomfortableness that comes with superhero costumes, especially when it comes to flying. The good news is he made it through the whole experience unscathed.
“No falling upside down, none of that yet,” he says. “I’ve spared myself embarrassment for the moment. So far I’m one for one, so we’ll see if day two brings any problems.”
While the whole process has its issues, Hoechlin realizes he can’t complain too much, as his job at the moment is to literally play a superhero on tv.
“At the end of the day, you’re flying around in a Superman costume โ it’s really hard to complain.”
Multiple videos from the set have shown up online, including once sequence that possibly features Superman versus Metallo.
Supergirl returns on October 10th.
