Teen Titans Go Celebrates (And Casts) Young Fan With A Rare Genetic Disorder

On Thursday night, fans of Teen Titans Go were introduced to "Wally T," the team's biggest fan.

What many likely didn't know is that the character is based on a real-life fan and aspiring voice actor who has a rare genetic disorder.

That would be Maryville (Tennessee) High School student Walter Thompson, who told WBIR 10 that he felt like a star after watching it at a local pizzeria and being cheered on by supporters.

Thompson has Barakat syndrome, in addition to renal failure and hearing impairment; he was flown out to California to record his role by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"I was pretty much in tears the whole time," said Thompson's mother AmyBeth McBride. "He just read right along and jumped in when it was his time to speak, and that, to me, that was just amazing to watch him."
