Call of Duty: WWII On Nintendo Switch Appears Increasingly Likely As New Clues Emerge

Could Call of Duty: WWII storm the beaches of the Nintendo Switch? It seems increasingly likely. Recently we reported that Activision-owned studio Beenox had dropped a tweet that clearly seemed to hint they were working on something Call of Duty related.

Beenox mainly focuses on porting games to "lower priority" platforms, bringing Skylanders and Amazing Spider-Man games to Wii and Wii U, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III to the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the past.

This led many to speculate that Beenox working on a Call of Duty: WWII Switch port, as Activision has specifically stated the game isn't headed to Xbox 360 and PS3, making the Switch about the only system they could be porting to (Sledgehammer is handling the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 versions themselves). The only other logical option was that Beenox was working on a follow up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, but new evidence makes the Switch Call of Duty: WWII port seem more likely.

Eagle-eyed fans recently noticed that the Call of Duty website once again lets you link your Nintendo Account to your main CoD account. That hadn't been an option for some time, because, well, there hasn't a Call of Duty game on a Nintendo system for some time. If that wasn't about to change, why would Activision have added the option to their website?

Meanwhile, gaming site BadFive has added fuel to the fire, saying they've received information from an anonymous source that Call of Duty: WWII is indeed in development for Switch, and will revealed in a dedicated two-hour Nintendo Direct sometime around the year's E3. BadFive isn't the most recognized site, but they swear by their source, and leaks sometimes originate from random places. Looking at all the evidence, a Switch version of Call of Duty: WWII is seeming fairly probable.

It'll be a big deal if the Nintendo Switch can land itself a port of Call of Duty: WWII. Sure, the game probably won't sell as well as Nintendo's first party titles, but where Call of Duty goes, the rest of the industry follows. If Activision is willing to put in the effort to make Call of Duty work on the Switch, you can bet a lot of other third parties will do the same with their big franchises.
