Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition Announced, Reveal Trailer Drops

Final Fantasy XV is playable on Xbox One and PS4. Recently we learned that it will be getting its definitive edition on PC... or will it?! Square Enix may have just unveiled the true definitive version of Final Fantasy XV, y'all. Behold Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition. Check out the announcement trailer above.

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition will be headed to iOS and Android devices later this year. This is a brand new game that will re-tell the Final Fantasy XV story in its entirety, similar to how Injustice 2 on mobile presents the entire campaign in an abridged format and high-quality cinematics. "The mobile game features the main characters and story of the console version and newly-announced Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition, with an adorable art style and casual touch controls optimized for mobile devices. The main story is told across ten thrilling episodes, with all ten episodes available at launch and the first episode downloadable for free."

Well, that certainly is something, is that certainly is a trailer. No doubt there are going to be a lot of people confused and outraged by this. In North America pretty much anything that comes to mobile is instantly discarded as a lazy cash-grab. You know what though? I'm going to say it: the characters look cute, and the gameplay looks legit. Assuming that Square is going out of its way to curate a more compact and enjoyable Final Fantasy XV experience, I think I'd be down to play through this story in chunks on my phone as opposed to sitting through a 60-hour campaign on my console.

Square Enix would also like to remind you that Monster of the Deep is still a thing. This VR fishing adventure is due to launch on November 21 for PlayStation VR. "In this brand-new VR experience, players will head out on a fishing expedition with Noctis and his crew across picturesque locations in Eos. The Story Mode places players in the middle of an exhilarating and action-packed showdown with a menace that lurks in the depths, while the Free Fishing Mode allows players to take in the the sights, sounds and scenery through a variety of fishing challenges."

Yeah, they're milking it, but that doesn't mean these spin-offs can't be good. We'll keep you updated with more information and our impressions, so stay tuned.
