Metal Gear Survive is still alive and kicking with an announcement coming tomorrow related to the upcoming game, according to a brief preview from Konami.

The nature of what exactly the reveal pertains to wasn't touched on within Konami's tweet about the game that's seen below, but a release date seems like a likely possibility. Metal Gear Survive was originally scheduled to already be out by now, but it was pushed back to sometime in early 2018. That date may have gotten pushed up though, or perhaps they'll have an announcement for a January or February release.

Metal Gear Survive takes a pretty different approach to the series than previous games have and is the first Metal Gear game that's been made since Hideo Kojima split from Konami. The game features fortification and survival elements while players face off against enemies that basically boil down to being zombies. It's set to take place following the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes in an alternate reality, some that combined with the zombie gameplay creates a pretty interesting diversion from the series' core gameplay.

With considering the many changes coming to the game and the devotion that plenty of players had to Kojima as he worked on the games, it shouldn't be much of a surprise to imagine that the new Metal Gear game is being met with some resistance. More accurately, Survive is the target of quite a bit of hate from fans who think that the series is moving in a direction that's unbecoming of the Metal Gear games. After seeing the initial tweet from Konami that previewed whatever the news is that's going to be revealed tomorrow, fans of the series had no problem letting their opinions fly.

Regardless of the reception of the game so far, the release of the game and the sales that follow will prove whether or not it's a worthwhile grab for fans of the series. It seems like many have checked out already, but perhaps tomorrow's news can sway those on the fence towards the game.
