Bungie’s Destiny 2 has finally launched for PC, and players are thriving in the technology-laden thrills that this version of the game brings, with all sorts of support for high-end hardware that makes the game better than ever, whether you’re laying waste to an army or simply dancing along with your friends.

But if you’re investing in the special collector’s editions for that version of the game, there’s probably something you should know โ€“ you’re not getting a physical copy.

That makes sense, since the physical PC market has kind of gone the way of the dodo in favor of digital downloads and buying games through Steam. But when someone buys a huge deluxe edition of a game, you expect it to be complete, right?

But anyone who purchased the limited edition version of the Collector’s Edition of Destiny 2 got slightly short-changed with the game’s release. That doesn’t mean they didn’t get the game โ€“ they sure did, along with all the collector’s stuff that came with it. But when you pop open the Steelbook case that these editions come with, you’ll find a little non-surprise.

A YouTuber by the name of Destruction Games posted the above video that showcases the unboxing of the collector’s edition, which has a bunch of nice stuff, including unlockable content within the game, as well as physical goods to show off on your shelves. However, when he opened up the Steelbook case, there’s a paper disc inside. This appears to be the same for all editions of the game that are sold physically. There is a code to download the game on the back of the disc (so don’t trash it!), but it’s just not the same.

You still get your money’s worth from these editions, with the limited items and cool swag they come with. But it’s kind of weird looking for a game and seeing a paper disc in their place. That’s like buying a bag of Cheetos out of a vending machine only to find a bunch of strings inside.

We just thought it was weird was all. But feel free to enjoy Destiny 2 now on PC, as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. See, those versions have physical discs.
