'Fortnite' Streamer Ninja Made $1 Million to Promote 'Apex Legends'

Streamer Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins made a huge name for himself due to his Fortnite content, but it looks like the young streamer is expanding those battle royale horizons even more because he made bank promotion Respawn's Apex Legends.

According to a recent report from Reuters, the 27-year old streamer was paid by EA a whopping one million dollars to promote the recently released, free-to-play, battle royale game. When Ninja took to a stream at the beginning of February to play the latest online title, his 13+ million followers were there to support him in the new venture.

It seems like a lot for a free game, right? In actuality, it's a pretty strong investment and really shows how competitive the current BR market is. There have be many that have tried to replicate the success of Fortnite and PUBG, but very few have succeeded in the way that Apex seems to, as well as Call of Duty's Blackout.

Since these games are only free-to-play in their vanilla state, records show the massive amount of financial potential that these titles have thanks to in-game purchases and cosmetics. Given that Respawn is also going to be dropping an option Battle Pass for players to buy, not unlike Fortnite, the income will be even higher making the investment in streamers like Ninja all the more valuable.

With the battle royale train showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, and with Battlefield V's own Firestorm on the horizon, it will be interesting to see what's on the horizon both for the genre and for streaming culture.

What do you think about Ninja's big, fat paycheck for his stream? Any other streamers you'd like to see receive a similar spotlight? Sound off in the comment section below, or hit me up over on Twitter @DirtyEffinHippy!
