Sony Is Deleting a Ton of Content PlayStation Fans Paid For

Sony has deleted a ton of content that PlayStation fans across PS4 and PS5 have paid for, creating some controversy in the process. In the digital era, everything you download you don't own in the traditional sense. You are more or less renting it from the platform holders. This means at a blink of an eye this content can be blinked out of existence, as PlayStation fans just painfully found out.

PlayStation has very quietly relayed word that on December 31, 2023, PlayStation users will no longer be able to watch any previously purchased Discovery content as the content will be removed from your video library. According to PlayStation, this is down to "licensing arrangements."

"As of 31 December 2023, due to our content licensing arrangements with content providers, you will no longer be able to watch any of your previously purchased Discovery content and the content will be removed from your video library," reads the alert from PlayStation. "We sincerely thank you for your continued support."

How much content does this effect? A lot. It does not effect a lot of users, because many PS4 and PS5 users aren't buying this kinda of content on their consoles, but some have, and these users are, as you would expect, unhappy.
