Are you excited for BioWare’s ambitious multiplayer sci-fi fantasy adventure, Anthem? The game looked impressive when it was unveiled at E3 2017, but maybe you’re still now convinced. Well, what if I told you Anthem has an official BioWare-commissioned corn maze? Because, gosh darnit, it does.

The corn maze can be found a few miles outside of the small town of Spruce Grove, Alberta, and features a Freelancer sporting an exosuit, and BioWare’s logo. It’s pretty good as far corn-based art goes:

So, why does a game that won’t come out for another year (at least) have a corn maze? Well, mainly because the folks at BioWare like to go to the corn maze with their families.

“We wanted to partner with the corn maze folks for a while. We thought it would be a good idea to have an Anthem-themed corn maze this year. We have so many developers here with families who go to the corn maze, we wanted to do it for that reason. Also, we wanted to get a little advertising coverage.”

Let it never be forgotten that most of BioWare’s wondrous RPG adventures were developed in the very non-fantastical land of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Trust me, getting lost in corn really is one of your better entertainment options around those parts.

Recently there have been hints Anthem‘s development isn’t going entirely smoothly, as Aaryn Flynn, BioWare’s general manager, and the former director of Anthem, announced he’s leaving the studio. Flynn has worked at BioWare for 17 years and been involved in numerous games in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, so it was a major loss. Maybe he didn’t actually leave the studio and is just stuck in the corn maze. Has anybody checked?

Anthem is slated to arrive during EA’s next fiscal year, which means the game could arrive as late as March 2019, although a holiday 2018 release is more likely. Keep up with WWG’s latest Anthem coverage here.
