There’s been quite a bit of news recently surrounding the Zombies mode that so many players flock to in the Call of Duty games, enough so that one artist felt inspired to create his own colorful versions of some of the most recognizable Zombies weapons from the games.

The artist behind the paintings is Travis Simpson, an avid Call of Duty player who is anxiously awaiting the release of the newest Call of Duty: Black Ops III DLC Zombies Chronicles. He started by painting the Ray Gun Mark II, certainly one of the most iconic weapons from the games and one that many players will associate with a “pew pew” that blows the legs off of all nearby undead threats.

After he completed the painting, he posted an image of it on Reddit with a title that said “painting this is helping bide the time until Xbox joins the rest of you guys,” referencing the delayed release of the Zombies Chronicles DLC on the Xbox One. As one could expect from posting such a well-done painting to a Call of Duty subreddit centered around the Zombies mode, the post was met with waves of approval from people who both complimented it and offered to buy it off of Simpson. He said that he already had a buyer lined up for the piece โ€” something that would no doubt make a fantastic addition to a game room โ€” but he also felt inspired to create two additional paintings to showcase more weapons tied to the Zombies games.

His next two projects that he took on were paintings of the green Li’l Arnie and the electric-flinging staff, both unique weapons that can be found throughout the Zombies maps.

While the shadowbox, collectible-styled paintings show off his Call of Duty flare, Simpson brings other ideas to life that can be seen through his Instagram, his Facebook, and can be purchased on Etsy. He dabbles in Rick and Morty paintings too, if that’s more up your alley. He lists the three paintings as his “first trio” of weapons, so hopefully, there will be more to come in the future.

Zombies Chronicles for Call of Duty: Black Ops III features eight classic Zombies maps and is expected to be released for the PC and the Xbox One next week.
