Assassin's Creed Origins isn't too far off from release, promising to throw players into one of the biggest adventures in the series to date as they explore dangerous lands and take out deadly targets with the help of Bayek. But you may want to save some hard drive space for your adventure.

Microsoft has just placed the game on its Xbox Store for pre-order, and according to the listing, it takes up quite a bit of room. The game reportedly takes up about 42.3GB of space, which can take a while with a slower Internet connection.

That said, it's not too bad compared to previous games. Assassin's Creed Syndicate, with its respective DLC, took up about 66GB of space, while other games have been around the 40-45GB vicinity, depending on what all was included.

And keep in mind that this is just for the general version of the game. If you're going to pursue the Xbox One X edition – which will feature a lot more territory to conquerthen the download size could possible be even double that, though Microsoft didn't indicate just how much space that particular version would require.

Microsoft has made note that it's looking into an "Intelligent Delivery" system that will make downloads a little easier to swallow on Xbox One X, by simply removing unnecessary data from the general download so gamers can get right into their experiences. But we have yet to see this practice in action, so you may want to prepare yourself for a long haul, just in case.

The retail copy of Origins will no doubt install much easier than the digital version, as that will require the whole thing to download all at once. But all the same, make sure you save some room on your hard drive for it. Currently, Amazon Prime members can save 20% on the physical edition.

There's no word yet if the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of Origins are around the same size, but it's likely a safe guess that they are. We'll let you know if anything changes on that front size-wise.

You can partake in Bayek's adventure in Assassin's Creed Origins when it releases on October 27th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
