With the game releasing first in Japan and Asia, it will come to North America and other areas on May 5. The game will include quite a few playable characters with 40 fighters confirmed to be playable at some point, this figure including all of the DLC options that will be available.

Along with the release date of the game, Arc System Works also confirmed that Blake Belladonna from RGWBY will be one of the characters playable through the DLC that the game offers. There are plenty of DLC options to go after as well with half of the characters being playable in the base game and the other half to be included through DLC, a split of 20 characters on each side.

For those familiar with the game’s production leading up to this release date announcement, you’ll recognize several of the names listed below that are included in the base game’s roster of fighters.

  • Ragna
  • Jin
  • Rachel
  • Hazama
  • Noel
  • Azrael
  • Tager
  • Makoto
  • Nu
  • Es
  • Yu
  • Yosuke
  • Chie
  • Yukiko
  • Hyde
  • Linne
  • Waldstein
  • Gordeau
  • Ruby
  • Weiss

Outside of these base characters, Arc System Works has also laid out a method for how they plan to include the rest of the fighters through DLC. A special all-in-one pack will be available from the beginning, like a season pass, to guarantee access to all of the characters once they’re released. Blake Belladonna will be sold as a separate DLC following the all-in-one pack, and after that, six new DLC options will become available that’ll include three fighters in each DLC pack. The final DLC option appears to be just one character. The characters revealed so far have been seen through several different reveals from Arc System Works throughout the past few months, one of which came in December and included characters from RWBY, Persona 4, and other titles.

Several different versions of the game will also be available that include DLC options and other collectible incentives when the game releases in May and June.
